"The
Lee County Sheriff's Office has joined in a partnership
with MADD (Mother's Against Drunk Driving) and Associates
and Bruce L. Scheiner, Personal Injury Lawyers,
P.A. to remove impaired drivers from Lee County
roadways. 'Mobile Eyes' Against Drunk Driving encourages
motorists to dial 9-1-1 from their cellular phone
to report drunk drivers to law enforcement. If the
impaired driver is stopped by law enforcement and
arrested for DUI, the caller becomes eligible for
a $100 dollar reward.
The 'Mobile Eyes' Against Drunk
Driving program is being launched this week as the
first of 10 billboards are being displayed across
Lee County to promote the new program. The billboards
and rewards are being funded by Associates and Bruce
L. Scheiner, Personal Injury Lawyers, P.A. Bumper
stickers and informational brochures are also being
distributed to familiarize citizens with the local
initiative.
MADD
representatives will assist in documenting the arrests
generated by Lee County motorists and law enforcement
officials. Once an arrest is made, the arresting
officer completes a 'Mobile Eyes' information sheet.
The form is faxed to the MADD office and the verification
process will begin. Once completed the citizen is
issued a check for $100 dollars. There is a $500
dollar lifetime reward limit (law enforcement officers
and MADD employees are not eligible to receive rewards).
